We love dogs
We’re so happy that you’d like to bring your dog with you to Rivercatcher
As dog owners ourselves, who have looked for luxury dog friendly cottages, we understand that your dog is a family member and deserves a holiday too.
Watching your dog explore new places, find new things to sniff and play in the water is a joy for any dog lover, ourselves included!
Booking your dogs to stay
It’s simple…
Just like human guests, you can book your dogs in during the initial booking or add them afterwards through our guest area.
To allow us to make your dogs stay as special as possible we charge £30 per dog with a maximum of 2 dogs per cottage or log cabin. This allows us to keep Rivercatcher dog friendly and lay on all the extras we can.

Fully Fenced Gardens
Safety first for your dog
Each cottage and cabin has a fenced-off garden so you can relax knowing your doggy companion is safe and never far away.
We know there’s nothing more important than the safety of your best (four legged) friends so we’ve taken extra care to ensure that the boundary fences to your property are secure.
Dog Walks
Short or long there’s lots of choice
There are lots of great dog walks around Rivercatcher and the surrounding area. Some are lead walks, but there are also many off-lead walks.
The areas between cottages (the grounds) are dog-friendly with no car access. The only exception is the area just outside the front of the cottages usually used on arrival and separture and the car park/entry road. Even these are generally quiet.
There are many walks available from Rivercatcher either starting in the village or paths leading off the main road near to the cottages. There are many places you can let your dog off the lead just taking care to pop them on a lead when you see cows or sheep on your travels.
Details of these walks can be found in your cottage or log cabin with some accompanying maps.
For more details, see The Rivercatcher Map.
Splashing in the River
Protected riverbank access through a dog gate
Your dog will enjoy the gardens at Rivercatcher and if they enjoy a swim then they’ll love jumping into the river
We have an enclosed dog walking area on-site by the river. There’s no direct access to the river, ensuring safety for your dog.
For more details, see The Rivercatcher Map.
Watch Teddy have fun at the river
Dog Wash Area
Muddy no more
We know that you want to tire your pooch out and that often means muddy or dusty paths.
We’ve added a dog wash area with water spray, shampoo and even clean towels to dry them off. This is located next to the car park so whether you’re coming back in the car or striding back from our doorstep your dogs will be ready to cosy up in front of the fire.
For more details, see The Rivercatcher Map.
Dog Welcome Hamper
Everyone needs to feel at home
We love having your four-legged friends stay with us and to make things as easy as possible, as standard we provide:
- Dog bowl
- Welcome toy
- Doggy bags & outside waste bin
- Blanket
- Local information on vets and dog friendly things to do
The Doggy Code
Well behaved, safe fun for everyone, paws, hooves and feet!
We only have a few house-rules for our doggy guests, but they are just what you would expect in a luxury holiday cottage – such as not being allowed upstairs, especially on beds. We also ask you to clear up any dog mess from the garden before you leave. We do provide some doggy bags and a doggy waste bin in the garden.
Out and about There are many places you can let your dog off the lead inside the Rivercatcher grounds. When venturing out we ask you to respect the country code and protect your dogs by just taking care to pop them on a lead when you see cows or sheep on your travels.
Doggy Extras
